Welcome back! Celebrating 10 years of KMSA and building momentum for 2026!
Welcome back and Happy 2026! As we step into 2026, I am thrilled that we get to continue building on the strong foundation we laid in 2025 and make this a year of impact and celebration. This year is particularly special for our profession as Knowledge Management South Africa marks its 10-year anniversary—a milestone that reflects a decade of commitment to advancing knowledge management across sectors. As the KMSA board we encourage all our members to celebrate this achievement extensively whether amongst yourselves as KM professionals, in your organizations and communities as we honour the journey that brought us here.
As indicated in my last message to you at the end of 2025, our priorities for 2026 include:

Strengthening Relationships Across Borders – Let’s form those relationships with our counterparts across sectors in the country and more especially in the African continent. KMSA is a flagship association for our colleagues in Africa, so let’s use that opportunity to collaborate, learn and share while also building strong relationships.

Launching Our Mentorship Programme – We are inviting experienced KM professionals to be ready to participate in our mentorship programme. Your guidance and expertise will help shape the next generation of knowledge leaders. If you are passionate about developing talent, please express your interest now and prepare to make a lasting impact.

Publishing and Sharing Our Work – Increasing visibility through research, case studies, and thought leadership publications. The publication of the 2025 imbizo research papers in the SAJIM special edition is the starting point of the amazing work that we can produce as KMSA members. Let’s continue the journey of publishing what we do best and sharing with the world our work.

Engaging More with Our Members – Creating meaningful opportunities for dialogue, collaboration, and active participation. Share your thoughts on how we engage with you and provide suggestions on how you think we can improve our engagement with you so that we’re able to provide you with your money’s worth.

The Imbizo remains our flagship event, and we are excited to make this year’s edition even more impactful. We invite members to submit their abstracts and start planning for the Imbizo early. This is your opportunity to showcase your work, share insights, and contribute to shaping the future of KM in South Africa and beyond.
