From the Chairperson's Desk
We should strive to be the best practice for other African countries and the World that are implementing KM, and Global KM Week is an opportunity for us to showcase our work and achievements
The year 2025 marks the beginning of the newly appointed KMSA Board, which has been entrusted by you to guide the recognition and growth of the KM profession in the country. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Board and congratulate them for all the incredible work that they have done for the past three years. It is from their work that the new Board will continue to ensure that the strategic objectives of the association are achieved. I would like to encourage our members to support the newly appointed Board. Please engage with the Board and participate in discussions that are relevant to the work that KM professionals need to pursue to enhance our visibility in the workplace.

We have shared with you the planned events for the year, and you’re invited to join as many of the events as possible to show your support. This year is October, as we celebrate the 3rd year of the Global Knowledge Management Week, let us celebrate as big as we can and let us show the world what we have achieved within the profession. We should strive to be the best practice for other African countries and the World that are implementing KM, and Global KM Week is an opportunity for us to showcase our work and achievements. We will be sharing our South African experiences of the 2024 Global KM Week celebrations with our peers on 22 May 2025, and it would be an incredible experience if you could join the webinar to support the presenters.
We continue to actively establish our presence across various sectors, including private, public, SOE, academia, and NGOs. Our approach involves forming strategic partnerships, making meaningful contributions, and engaging in initiatives that raise awareness of KMSA's mission to represent the interests of Knowledge Management Practitioners. Additionally, we aim to promote, study, and standardize knowledge management practices in South Africa. We will continue to lead in providing the latest trends and developments in knowledge management within the country, Africa and the world. Your involvement and support are the driving force behind KMSA's achievements.
We are excited to invite you to the 2025 KMSA Imbizo, themed “Integrated Knowledge Management for Operational Excellence,” which will be held in Franschhoek from 25 to 27 August 2025. This year’s conference is particularly special, as the theme was selected by one of our KMSA members, reflecting the collaborative spirit that our association is known for. We look forward to seeing you there!
